The United States today is more politically active than at any point in recent years thanks to the growing budget crunches turning up the heat on workers coast to coast.
In the wake of major anti-union legislation being introduced in a number of states, the long dormant labor movement has thrown off its slumber, to remind elected representatives that power resides in numbers.
Organizers have called for working Americans to gather at state capitols, local banks and county courthouses around the nation at noon on Saturday, to raise their voices in a common message: we demand a fair shake.
We at Raw Story would like to attend every one of these events, but that is simply impossible. Our organization is not an MSNBC or a CNN, replete with the resources and personnel to match. But given the track record of mainstream media reportage on the recent workers' protests, it's hard to say how Saturday's actions will be portrayed.
Aware as we are of the vital importance of the media's framing in key stories like this, we've decided to appeal to you, dear reader, for help in covering these demonstrations.
Wherever you are, if you're at a labor demonstration, we want to see what's happening and bring it to the world, raw as ever. As the events are ongoing, we'll be tweeting and posting your content live; and once it's all said and done, we'll pick the best reader-submitted material and organize a feature for Monday morning.
