Axelrod: Romney has no ‘core’ principles
President Barack Obama’s campaign advisor David Axelrod slammed Mitt Romney Tuesday morning for the former Massachusetts governor’s comments on illegal immigration at the latest CNN GOP debate.
On CBS’ The Early Show, Axelrod said that Romney gave a “unintentionally revealing moment” when responding to Texas governor Rick Perry’s attack on undocumented immigrants working on Romney’s property.
“We went to the company and we said, look, you can’t have any illegals working on our property,” Romney said. “I’m running for office, for Pete’s sake, I can’t have illegals.”
Axelrod pounced on that statement.
“I thought that was the most unintentional revealing moment of the debate,” he said. “Time and time again, Gov. Romney switches from one position to another apparently because he is running. I think is there a sense there is no core to him.”
