MSNBC's Morning Joe called out Raw Story and other media outlets Tuesday for reporting that he had downplayed the impact of the Occupy Wall Street movement.
Raw Story was the that CNBC's Melissa Francis criticized Scarborough Monday for "making this whole thing a whole lot worse" by mocking the protests.
"Are people nervous down there?" Scarborough asked. "When they are holding their martinis -- are their top hats and their monocles, does ascot askew? How nervous are they down there?"
"See, it's sarcasm like this that is fueling this rally right now," Francis replied. "You are the problem, Joe. You are. It's comments like that that is making this whole thing a whole lot worse."
Several other websites also picked up the story.
"I am surprised to be back today after everything that happened yesterday," Francis said during her appearance on Morning Joe Tuesday.
"Listen, it was great," Scarborough declared. "Talk about a humorless America online. Did you see this? So, we make a joke and somebody does some headline, 'Melissa Francis: Joe Scarborough's the problem.'"
He added: "You know what? In your defense, I'm always the problem. If that's your default position, you're going to be right 95 percent of the time."
