Journalism's prestigious Peabody Awards are presented each year for outstanding accomplishments in electronic media. The award stretches back over a 71 year history encompassing radio, television and now, the Internet.

The Peabody is the award that Bill O'Reilly falsely claimed to have won until his story was debunked by Senator Al Franken (D-MN) in 2008.

On Wednesday night's "The Colbert Report," host Stephen Colbert announced that he has won a 2012 Peabody Award for his "Colbert super PAC" segments. This is his second Peabody, which means, he said, that he can send his Peabody Awards on double dates with his two Emmys.

The host thanked his staff, including adviser "Ham Rove," as well as the justices of the Supreme Court, whose ruling in the controversial Citizens United case made super PACs, and therefore the award, possible.
