Monday on CurrentTV's "The War Room with Jennifer Granholm," host Jennifer Granholm was joined by Freedom to Marry activist Marc Solomon. The two discussed Vice President Joe Biden's remarks from Sunday in support of gay marriage and the president's reaction to them, or lack thereof.
On Sunday's "Meet the Press," the Vice President spoke candidly on the topic of same-sex marriage, saying that marriage is about love and loyalty, "And that’s what people are finding out what all marriages at their root are about, whether they’re marriages of gay men or lesbians or heterosexuals.”
Solomon and Granholm agreed that the Vice President was clearly speaking from the heart, "And that's why we love him," Granholm quipped.
Solomon finds the president's position more troubling, however, saying that the Chief Executive should speak more forcefully and openly on this issue, in a way that actually reflects his beliefs rather than making vague, open-ended political statements.
"People want their president to speak from the heart and be honest," he said, "I think he's losing credibility when he speaks to this issue and tries to parse words. I don't think it's working anymore."
