Conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh on Tuesday scoffed at the job creation records of presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney and President Barack Obama, insisting that he had created more jobs than both of them combined.
Recalling how he put together his EIB radio network in 1988, Limbaugh said that he never intended to become a job creator.
"Since that success, since the EIB Network success, look at all the AM radio stations still on the air who wouldn't be," the conservative host noted. "Look at all the conservative -- there has been massive job creation! There has been massive amounts of new money brought into the business. We expanded the pie but not once did any of us say, 'Our purpose is to create jobs.' But we did."
"I have created more jobs than Obama and Romney put together, damn right!" Limbaugh declared. "I have a greater record of job creation than Romney or Obama."
Romney has said that he helped create "over 100,000 jobs" as the CEO of Bain Capital, a claim that The Washington Post's fact checkers decided did "not pass the laugh test."
The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) estimated that the stimulus package passed after President Barack Obama took office increased employment by as much as 3.3 million. The White House has also claimed that the auto industry added over 170,000 jobs since GM and Chrysler emerged from bankruptcy.
It was unclear how many jobs Limbaugh is responsible for creating -- either directly or indirectly -- by founding his syndicated radio network.
