Fox News co-host Andrea Tantaros on Thursday said that "no woman should aspire to be" the women’s rights activist and former Georgetown University law student Sandra Fluke, who conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh called a slut because she had advocated that birth control be covered by health insurance plans.
During a discussion about how women would vote in the 2012 election, The Five co-host Eric Bolling declared that "Obama's the real warrior on women," adding that he had received an Obama campaign fundraising email written by Fluke, who is expected to speak at the Democratic National Convention.
"And they think it's ridiculous that [Donald] Trump might speak at the RNC convention!" co-host Dana Perino exclaimed.
"Why would they elevate somebody who claims to be this successful woman?" Tantaros wondered. "Nobody should aspire to be her. She claims to be this smart, successful woman and she can't afford $9 birth control?"
"She was a student -- she was a student to Georgetown!" guest co-host Juan Williams pointed out.
"She's a lazy student," Tantaros shot back. "She won't get a job and pay for her own bills
In fact, Fluke had testified to Congress that it was her friend, a lesbian, who could not afford the oral contraception she needed to prevent ovarian cysts from forming because her university refused to pay for the medication on religious grounds.
