The leader of metal group Twisted Sister blasted Republican vice-presidential candidate Paul Ryan for using their signature song at a campaign appearance earlier this week.
"I emphatically denounce Paul Ryan's use of my band Twisted Sister's song, 'We're Not Gonna Take It,' in any capacity," singer Dee Snider told Rolling Stone in an interview published Wednesday. "There is almost nothing he stands for that I agree with except the use of the P90X."
Ryan had previously run afoul of Rage Against The Machine guitarist Tom Morello after Ryan called that group his favorite band, though more because of their sound than their lyrical content.
"I wonder what Ryan’s favorite Rage song is?" Morello wrote in an op-ed piece for the magazine last week. "Is it the one where we condemn the genocide of Native Americans? The one lambasting American imperialism? Our cover of 'Fuck the Police'? Or is it the one where we call on the people to seize the means of production? So many excellent choices to jam out to at Young Republican meetings!"
The magazine also points out that Ryan's running mate, presumptive presidential hopeful Mitt Romney, didn't fare any better; another group, the Silversun Pickups, also asked his campaign not to use one of their songs during his campaign stops.
