NEW ORLEANS — Two vans in Mitt Romney's motorcade were involved in a minor collision Friday after the Republican nominee reviewed storm damage near New Orleans, but his vehicle was not involved.

A press van rear-ended a staff van in the area of Jean Lafitte, leaving the press pool which travels with the motorcade separated from Romney, who headed back to his campaign plane in New Orleans.

No one was believed to be injured, according to reporters in the pool. The group abandoned one of the damaged vehicles and was returning to join up with the campaign.

Presidential and campaign motorcades can be harrowing affairs, especially when they travel at high speeds on public roads that are not closed to traffic.

An officer in then-candidate Hillary Clinton's motorcade was killed in February 2008 in Dallas when his motorcycle hit a curb.
