President Barack Obama spoke to supporters in Council Bluffs, Iowa on Monday as part of a three-day campaign stint in the state.
Recent polling suggests that Iowa could be a toss-up this November in the presidential election, and Obama's visit also coincides with new Republican VP pick Paul Ryan's stop in the state.
The stop in Iowa comes just after a July session in which Congress failed to reach an agreement on the controversial farm bill, the House version of which would have slashed $16 billion in food stamps.
According to remarks released in advance of the speech to major media outlets, Obama will say, "If you happen to see Congressman Ryan, tell him how important this farm bill is to Iowa and our rural communities."
