Stephen Colbert on Tuesday night opened his show with cartoons likening President Obama to former Chinese dictator Mao Zedong and Cuban dictator Fidel Castro, dubbing the Democratic Convention the "2012 People's Party Congress of Charlotte."

"They're hoping for a replay of four years ago," Colbert said, "when hordes of hope-addled lemmings cried as their Dear Leader orated between soaring Greek columns."

"Now, four years ago those were fake Greek columns," Colbert added. "This time, it's the actual Parthenon. Greece sold it for a buck seventy-five and a jug of tzatziki."

But, really, he was just mad that the Democrats felt the need to copy the Republican convention. "Folks, the whole this is just sad, it's just sad. Every time the Republicans have a convention, it's like the Democrats have to have one too!"

It was, however, okay, because RNC Chairman Reince Priebus knows that the voters are on their side, and Colbert agreed. "We have all the enthusiasm. Mitt Romney's our candidate and there's no changing that now."
