The Democrats' advocacy of same-sex marriage in this year's party platform seemed to fluster Pat Robertson on Tuesday's episode of The 700 Club, as he bemoaned the loss of the party formerly known as the party of "rum, Romanism and rebellion."

"You have insulted the Catholic Church with your rules, you have insulted right-to-work states, you have insulted certain union groups with your stand on the pipeline," Robertson fumed, not specifying how holding the party's national convention in North Carolina - and bringing a reported $128 million to the state - constitutes an insult by the Democrats. "And now you're going after God, it makes no sense but that's what they want to do."

Robertson also said he was "astounded" by the platform's stance in favor of same-sex marriage, which was referenced several times during Tuesday night's speeches on the convention floor.

"I don't know what you label the Democrats now," he said. "But it's the party of gays, godlessness and whatever else."
