It’s a cultural zeitgeist in America that “your brain on drugs” is a brutish, violent experience that produces nothing but euphoria at the moment at the expense of the user’s future. But science is a bit more nuanced than that.
The increasingly popular YouTube account AsapSCIENCE has carried some pretty interesting content since it launched, but yesterday’s update might be the best one yet.
The explanation is so simple and concise, it could actually go a long way to dispelling some of the popular myths about why people sometimes act a little strange when they’re smoking the stufff.
In less than three minutes, they explain exactly what happens to your brain when you ingest marijuana. It’s all quite educational, but strikes a good balance by not coming off as preachy or annoying.
Some of the account’s other quickie science injections include explanations of why orgasms feel so good, which comic book superhero powers might be plausible, and why music induces a drug-like state.

‘Back the Blue’ members beat BLM protesters in Colorado ditch: ‘Keep punching each other in the face’
Members of a "Back the Blue" rally were seen fighting with Black Lives Matter counter-protesters in Fort Collins, Colorado over the weekend.
Video posted on social media shows members of the "Back the Blue" group advancing on Black Lives Matter activists. The confrontation eventually becomes a fighting match in a neighborhood ditch.
"Everybody keep their hands off their weapons!" one man can be heard shouting. "Keep punching each other in the face. Don't shoot anybody."
Ciara Wilson posted video of the confrontation on Instagram.
"I was at the Pro Police FCPD rally today," she wrote. "Counter protestors were violently beaten and had no signs of aggression or hostility. Pro Police protestors forced them to the end of the block and then savagely assaulted them. Afterwards the COUNTER PROTESTORS WERE DETAINED. The officers did not tell them why they were being detained. The pro police protestors who literally assaulted these people for no fucking reason other than being PSYCHOPATHS got away with it. I am so sick and tired of this."

The ad, called "Vote Out Racism," was released late Friday night, also touches on his birther comments about former President Barack Obama that extended into his presidential run in 2016.
