Weekly Food Blogging: Shifting Gears
I’m feeling a bit exhausted of cataloging so much of my cooking, which is why I’ve been haphazard about updates. But I do like having weekly blog posts focusing on how to cook with local, seasonal ingredients. So, I’ve decided for now a new way to go about this is to simply focus on one recipe a week that made good use out of an ingredient, either an uncommon one or a common one that I think I did something cool with.
This week: butternut squash sage pizza. I got it off a Lindsay Beyerstein’s Pinterest recipe board. Pinterest really has become my mainstay for finding and keeping recipes. It’s not just that you can find interesting ones all the time there, but it’s also easy to catalog ones you find there and elsewhere. I’ve found putting the names of the prominent ingredients in the description helps make it easy to do a Ctrl-F search of your board, too.
I tweaked this recipe a bit by using mozzarella instead of ricotta and by roasting the squash in its skin and simply spooning it out on the crust, which is an easier way to go about this. The sage and thyme came from the garden. I’m trying to incorporate more interesting pizza recipes into my cooking, so if you have any ideas, feel free to leave them in comments.
