Both CNN and MSNBC have predicted Democratic candidate Elizabeth Warren will win the state senate race in Massachusetts, beating incumbent Sen. Scott Brown (R-MA).
Both outlets had Warren beating Scott 52 percent to 48 percent with just under 40 percent of precincts reporting as of 10 pm EST.
The race entered the national spotlight this year as Warren, a Harvard professor, became a rising star among the Democrats, which included a spotlighted speech at this year's Democratic National Convention. It also turned increasingly heated as the campaign went on, particularly after Brown staffers and supporters were caught on video doing a "tomahawk chop" gesture making fun of Warren's Native American heritage.
Earlier this week, Warren told volunteers in a conference call that if elected, she planned to focus on restoring the Glass-Steagall finance rule, which prevented banks from becoming "too big to fail."
