On Thursday, former President Donald Trump took to Truth Social to rage against the Lincoln Project, and take a swipe at Fox News for airing one of their ads.
"Why does Fox put them on?" Trump wrote. "The perverts of the Lincoln Project were 'run out of town' after it was learned that they did some really 'bad stuff.' Perversion anyone? Now they have re-emerged with a different but similar name. Keep these sicko’s off television!"
The Lincoln Project is a group of former Republican strategists who turned against the GOP after Trump became president, and became notorious for running advertisements designed specifically to needle him.
Trump's description of the Lincoln Project as "perverts" and "sickos" is presumably a reference to a scandal in which one of the group's co-founders, John Weaver, was implicated in sexual harassment.
The former president's outburst on social media comes as he faces an investigation by the FBI into improperly removed classified documents, that took a new step on Monday with a search warrant executed at his Mar-a-Lago country club in Palm Beach, Florida — the subject of the Lincoln Project's latest ad.
Trump responded to that action with yet another tirade, baselessly accusing the FBI of political targeting — although he refused to release the warrant to the public clarifying what items the FBI was authorized to search for. Attorney General Merrick Garland signaled on Thursday the DOJ will move to make the warrant public itself.

Trump's Truth Social scrubs account 'suspected' to be man who attack FBI in Ohio: report
The body armor-clad man who allegedly attacked the FBI office in Cincinnati appears to have posted to Trump's Truth Social website during the attack.
"Investigators are looking into whether the man who tried to breach the F.B.I.’s field office in Cincinnati on Thursday had ties to extremist groups, including one that participated in the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol, according to two law enforcement officials familiar with the matter," the newspaper reported. "The suspect, identified by the officials as Ricky Shiffer, 42, seems to have appeared in a video posted on Facebook on Jan. 5, 2021, showing him attending a pro-Trump rally at Black Lives Matter Plaza in Washington the night before the Capitol was stormed."
The newspaper linked the suspect, who was killed by police, to an unverified Twitter account that claimed he "was there" on Jan. 6.
The account told Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) "It's over. The next step is the one we used in 1775."
And tweeted, " "Save ammunition, get in touch with the Proud Boys and learn how they did it in the Revolutionary War, because submitting to tyranny while lawfully protesting was never the American way. LEXINGTON."
The suspect may have also had an account on Truth Social.
"Looks like Truth Social just deleted the account suspected to be that of the man who attacked the FBI office in Cincinnati," USA Today correspondent Will Carless reported.
"If this is Shiffer's Truth Social account, he posted two days ago about killing federal agents, and posted 8 hours ago about attacking the FBI," Carless reported.
NBC News reported, "Shiffer appeared to have posted a message detailing his failed attempt to gain entry to the FBI building."
Extremism researcher Jared Hold reported on the post in question.
"Well, I thought I had a way through bulletproof glass, and I didn't," the account posted.
"If you don't hear from me, it is true I tried attacking the F.B.I., and it'll mean either I was taken off the internet, the F.B.I. got me, or they sent the regular cops while," the post trailed off.

'Donald didn't think someone who looked like Merrick Garland would be a ninja': Mary Trump
Dr. Mary Trump, the niece of former President Donald Trump, told MSNBC she's fairly certain her uncle never anticipated Attorney General Merrick Garland would do what he did on Thursday.
Trump bemoaned the FBI and Justice Department this week after a search warrant was executed at his golf club in Palm Beach, Florida for classified documents that they'd tried to get back from Trump for the past several months. While Trump was given a copy of the search warrant, he has refused to publish it, insisting that it isn't up to him to be transparent. So, Garland announced he'd move forward with releasing it.
Speaking at the Justice Department on Thursday, Garland made it clear that he was calling Trump's bluff.
"He's probably having a very difficult time processing this because, you know, Donald is a coward and a bully," Dr. Trump, who is a psychologist, told host Ari Melber. "He only attacks if he believes there will be no counterattack. He's been tripped up by two things here. As Neal said earlier, Garland is playing chess. Donald can only play checkers. So, he's being outmaneuvered. He's also gotten tripped up. It never occurred to Donald that somebody who looks like Merrick Garland and talks like Merrick Garland is actually a ninja."
