Secret Service probes right-wing radio host for threatening Hillary Clinton

The U.S. Secret Service is eying fringe right-wing radio host Pete Santilli, who recently said he wanted to shoot former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in the vagina.

Secret Service spokesperson told Talking Points Memo on Monday that the agency was “aware of Mr. Santilli’s comments and will take the appropriate follow up action.” The spokesperson noted that Santilli had a right to free speech, but added, “the Secret Service has a right and an obligation to determine what a person’s intent is when making comments like this.”

Santilli received a flood of media attention after Right Wing Watch reported he called for sexual violence against Clinton. He said he wanted to “shoot her right in the vagina” for her involvement in several bizarre conspiracy theories.

Santilli on Monday addressed the controversy he provoked and reiterated his call for sexual violence against Clinton.

“I don’t even want to disgrace this segment by referring to what I said on my show ’cause I say what I say and I think you already know that,” he said, according to Media Matters. “We’ve already had discussions about that. I say what I say. But I’m going to tell you this: I was very specific in my commentary that’s all over the press today in that regard — that I don’t want her to die. I’ve actually done something and said something that’s less humane: I want her to suffer.

“Whereas people like you, who are rational and logical and lawful and constitutional want to bring the death penalty to her by hanging for treason. I want the opposite: I want to shoot her in the vagina, and let her suffer right before my eyes on behalf of all of the people who have died at her hands.”

The government's response to the pandemic has further enriched the wealthy, while everyday people, especially Black and Brown workers, face sickness, death, and destitution. Government handouts to the rich are unsurprising, since they repeat the century-old pattern of "rescue packages", but another pattern is more perplexing: why have business leaders not stepped up to demand a robust public health response, which would ultimately be in their own self-interest? The titans of industry have mostly stood by in the face of Trump's criminal negligence, which has devastated much of the 99% but also endangers the wealthy.

The Trump Organization is planning a massive real estate development, according to a new report by Martyn McLaughlin in The Scotsman.

"In what would be one of the most ambitious and expensive foreign projects undertaken by Donald Trump’s family business since he assumed the presidency, his company has commissioned a detailed masterplan to develop as many as 225 properties, as well as leisure facilities and shops, on an expanse of rolling farmland adjacent to Turnberry’s lauded Ailsa course, a four-time host of golf’s Open Championship," the Scottish newspaper reported.
