Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R) continued to lambaste state Sen. Wendy Davis (D) in an interview with right-wing radio host Laura Ingraham on Friday, under the guise of praising her accomplishments.
According to Burnt Orange Report, Perry attempted to explain remarks he made on Thursday about Davis being a young mother by telling Ingraham, “I said I was proud of what Wendy had accomplished in her life. I’m sad that she does not understand that every life is precious, and certainly her own.”
Perry was criticized by state Democrats after weighing in on Davis’ recent 11-hour filibuster against an anti-abortion bill, saying at a conference that it was “unfortunate that [Davis] hasn’t learned from her own example.” Davis, who was raising her first child by the time she was 19 years old, went on to graduate from Harvard Law School before becoming a lawmaker.
“How many young Texans, how many young men and women across this country didn’t get to accomplish what Wendy Davis has accomplished because they were aborted?” Davis asked Ingraham on Friday.
