Police are searching for a 50-year-old Bay Area woman who went missing after someone contacted her about ransom for her dog that disappeared after a break-in in May.
Police told KNTV on Wednesday that Sandra Coke, who recently moved to the area from New Jersey, was last seen on Sunday at 8:30 p.m. near her family's home in Oakland. She said she was going to meet someone who had information about her missing dog, Ginny.
Police spokeswoman Officer Johnna Watson said that they suspect foul play -- they found her Mini Cooper at 7:45 p.m. about two miles from her last known location. UPI reported that Cole's daughter used a computer program to locate one of her mother's cell phones, one of which was found where she disappeared and the other police located in Contra Costa County.
"All we know is my sister is missing and we suspect foul play because this is unlike her," Tanya Coke, Sandra's sister, told KNTV. "Her daughter needs her. We need her."
Police are seeking any information about Coke. She is a 5-foot-6-inch black woman with medium complexion, brown hair and brown eyes. She was wearing a black-and-white shirt and dark jeans at the time of her disappearance.
