Former Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum attempted to shame Democrats for using socio-economic barometers like the term "middle class" during an appearance at the Iowa State Fair on Saturday.
"When Republicans get up and talk about 'the middle class,' we're buying into their rhetoric of dividing America," Santorum insisted to supporters. "Stop it. There's no class in America. And call them on it."
Santorum singled out President Barack Obama for his frequent references to middle-income Americans, despite the fact that, as Right Wing Watch reported, he also used the term during his tenure as a senator.
"Since when in America do we have classes? Since when in America are people stuck in areas or defined places that's called a class?" Santorum said. "That's Marxism talk."
