Donald Trump tells David Letterman: 'I'm really definitely not' running for NY governor

Entrepreneur Donald Trump may have squashed the hopes of some New York state Republicans on Thursday when he ruled out running to be their governor in an interview with Late Show host David Letterman.

"Just tell them you're not running for governor," Letterman prodded Trump.

"I'm probably not," Trump conceded. "I can really say I'm really definitely not. I have other things to do. I have a lot of things that are going on that are fabulous."

At that point, Letterman cracked up and patted Trump on the shoulder, though he did not say whether he believed Trump's claim of a "fabulous" life.

USA Today reported on Monday that state assemblyman Bill Nojay (R) had passed a petition to party leaders hoping to prompt the reality show host -- who infamously teased a presidential campaign in 2012 -- back into the political arena. Though Trump brushed the idea off in a Fox News interview at the time, his statement to Letterman does seem to confirm a lack of interest.
