Rep. Larry Pittman, a North Carolina state senator and conservative pastor opened a talk at a recent conference with a joke about President Barack Obama's alleged lack of American citizenship.
In video obtained by the American Bridge PAC, Pittman, who lives in the city of Concord, said that he personally disagreed with an image that he saw on Facebook showing Obama with the caption "Traitor."
"And, you know," Pittman said, "I don't always agree with the guy, I know I didn't vote for him, but I gotta defend 'im on this one. Uh, I just don't think it's right at all to call Barack Obama a traitor."
"Now, you know there's a lotta things he done wrong, but he is not a traitor, at least not as far as I can tell," he continued. "Cos I have not come across any evidence yet that he's done one thing to harm Kenya."
The audience laughed and applauded.
