Apparently, Google's robotics division needs to scare the pants off of the rest of the world.
Google confirmed to the New York Times that it purchased Boston Dynamics, a DARPA-funded robotics firm that has grown YouTube-famous through its unworldly animalistic and anthropomorphic military robot prototypes like the BigDog and the PETMAN.
Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed, but it one of eight recent acquisitions by Google in the robotics space.
Boston Dynamics, an MIT-spinoff based in the Boston suburb of Waltham, Mass., specializes in building dynamic robots and software for human simulation. Its Wildcat prototype can outrun a human being.
