An Oregon woman convicted of raping her friend's 12-year-old son was sentenced to 12 years in prison on Wednesday.
Judge Thomas Hart sentenced 36-year-old Sarah Beth Hopkins of Salem to 144 months in prison and post-prison supervision for life. She also must register as a sex offender.
"I’m worried about where he’s going to end up,” because of the incident, Hart told Hopkins, according to the Statesman Journal. "His odds are stacked against him right now. Your choices were driven by selfish behavior."
Earlier this month, Hopkins plead guilty to one count of first-degree rape, two counts of second-degree rape and two counts of sodomy.
The victim told his mother last August that he and Hopkins had sex multiple times in the woman's apartment and occasionally in public places. Over the course of eight months, the two had sex about 15 times, he said.
