Breitbart's Editor-at-Large, Ben Shapiro, writes at the National Review that the real cause of Philip Seymour Hoffman's untimely death was a "broken leftist culture."

Shapiro claims that this culture "dominates Hollywood," and that it is, fundamentally, libertarian. "Libertarianism becomes libertinism without a cultural force pushing back against the penchant for sin," he writes, and "Hollywood has no such cultural force."

Although he admits that "[n]o one knows what sort of demons plagued Seymour Hoffman," he claims that "without a sound moral structure around those in Hollywood who have every financial and talent advantage, the path to destruction is far too easy."

Earlier this month, Shapiro wrote a Townhall article about the need for more seductive "lectures about personal responsibility." Conservatives, he claimed, can't convince people that they are accountable for their own actions.

In 2011, Shapiro blamed "the left" for the shooting of Gabrielle Giffords and 20 others by Jared Lee Loughner, writing that "the society created by the left that is responsible."
