NY pastor: Handing out AR-15s in church is 'exactly' what Jesus taught us 2,000 years ago

A New York pastor says that his church's raffle of an AR-15 assault-style rifle during church services on Sunday was so successful that he plans to do it again on Monday.

Rev. John Koletas of Grace Baptist Church in Troy told WNYT that people came from as far away as New York City, and packed the sanctuary with hopes of winning the rifle on Sunday.

"This is doing exactly what we've always done for the last 2,000 years since Jesus walked the shores of Galilee ," he explained to the station.

Ron Stafford, who won the raffle, said that attending a church service where an AR-15 was given away felt "great."

"I felt like I was at home, and I felt like I was with a majority of all Americans," he remarked. "We need to come out more in the glory of God to do something to this extent."

Koletas insisted that the raffle was so popular that the only "fair" thing to do would be to give another rifle away as early as Monday night.
