Ted Cruz rallies conservative conference: 'You no longer have a president'

Tea Party favorite Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) told a group of conservatives on Thursday that they no longer had a president because Barack Obama had implemented health care reform in a "lawless" way.

As the opening speaker at the 204 Conservative Political Action Conference, Cruz came prepared with plenty of red meat. He slammed the president over gun rights, the Internal Revenue Service, a weak foreign policy and slow economic growth.

But the loudest applause came when Cruz brought up the Affordable Care Act, which pushed him to instigate a government shutdown late last year.

"Millions of Americans stood up last fall and said stop this train wreck, this disaster that is Obamacare, that is hurting millions of people," Cruz said. "We need to stop the lawlessness. This president of the United States is the first who thinks he can just choose which laws to enforce and which laws to ignore."

"Obamacare, it is utterly lawless, and it ought to trouble everyone," he continued.

"Let me tell you something, if you have a president who is choosing which laws to follow and which laws to ignore, you no longer have a president."
