Replacing Florida's Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT) with a new statewide school exam based on the Common Core standards is part of an agenda to turn kids gay, according to one Florida lawmaker.
In video published by Think Progress on Monday, State Rep. Charles Van Zant (R) warned the company hired to produce Florida’s next statewide exam, American Institutes for Research, had a secret agenda to transform straight youths into homosexuals.
"Please go on their website, click the link to what they're doing with youth, and you will see what their agenda really is. They are promoting as hard as they can any youth that is interested in the LGBT agenda."
AIR has a project called the LGBTQI2-S Learning Community, which "is an opportunity for individuals and organizations in the behavioral health, child welfare, juvenile justice, and education systems to learn about strategies for delivering services that can enhance the well-being of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning, intersex, or two-spirit (LGBTQI2-S) youth and their families," according to their website.
Zant was particularly concerned that AIR was interested in "two-spirit" youth.
"The Bible says a lot about being double-minded," he remarked, "These people, that will now receive $220 million from the state of Florida unless this is stopped, will promote double-mindedness in state education and attract every one of your children to become as homosexual as they possibly can. I'm sorry to report that to you."
The Republican lawmaker was speaking at the "Operation Education Conference" in Orlando in March.
