Two Arizona men who traveled to California to get married had their ceremony ruined by a man who hurled insults and antigay slurs from the balcony of the million-dollar condominiums nearby.

San Diego's Channel 10 News reported that the heckler, however, refused to show his face, hiding out of sight as he repeatedly yelled, "Homos!" and "Go home, fags!" throughout the outdoor wedding, which was held in Coronado's Centennial Park.

Oscar De Las Salas and Gary Jackson and their 30 or so guests gathered around sundown on August 17 to celebrate the two men's nuptials. Not long after the ceremony began, however, the shouting started.

Wedding musician David De Alva told Channel 10, "He really wanted to humiliate the people there. He said, 'Go home, fags!"

However, said De Alva, every time he looked up, the balconies at the exclusive complex of condos looked empty.

"During the wedding vows, everyone stopped and turned," said De Las Salas, whose irritation turned to fear as it occurred to him that the heckler could be armed.

"It was a moment of fear," he said. "I'm thinking, 'God forbid this person has a gun and decides to open fire.'"

"It's just sad that that is now ingrained for the rest of our lives in our wedding day," said Jackson to Channel 10. "That person took a chunk of what should have been a beautiful day and turned it into something nasty and full of hate."

The couple wrote letters to the city of Coronado and to the condo homeowner association. Both organizations replied with apologies but the heckler has yet to be identified.
