Actor and LGBT activist George Takei was "straight ... up" encouraging his fans to register his vote in a video released by the youth-oriented political group Our Time.
"I'm talking to straight young couples because you are going to be producing the gay babies of tomorrow," Takei says in the ad. "The future is up to you."
The video is part of the organization's voter registration campaign. Our Time describes itself on its website as "pro-generational," rather than liberal or conservative.
"We carefully consider the majority views of our generation and do our best to represent those positions without shilling for political parties," the website states, adding that its focus includes issues like "voting reform, college affordability, equal rights, and job opportunities."
"I'm especially concerned about the future of this country, because I'm concerned about the gay people of the future," Takei says. "We need to ensure their good life by your registering to vote."
