A Missouri pastor who recently made news when he was seen in a viral video praying to "cure" a man of his homosexual urges explained this week that his sermons were like "chemotherapy" for LGBT people.
At the 107th Holy Convocation convention for the Church of God in Christ (COGIC) earlier this month, Andrew Caldwell told Pastor Earl Carter that his worship service had delivered him from homosexuality.
That same night, Carter had preached that gay men were "sissies," who he hoped would "bleed from their butts."
In an interview recorded and posted to Facebook by Hammresha Jones this week, Carter explained that other pastors had distanced themselves from him after he said that LGBT people should not be pastors or choir directors.
"It's just like this, if you are heading towards a cliff, and I know you are getting ready to go over the other side... I must run you down, and bruise you, even to break a leg, to keep you from going over the cliff," he told Jones. "The only people that's crying out [about my message] is the homosexuals."
"I don't hate gays, I'm just like the doctor who hates disease, I fight the disease," Carter added. "My gospel is like chemotherapy. We try to get to the disease. And the police fighting crime, what are we fighting? Or are we making concessions for these sins?"
The pastor said that if he were able to express his true feelings, "then I'll be whipping sissies. You're talking about gay bashing, it would be gay stoning."
"You're turning out these boys in the bathrooms and everywhere and schools," Carter continued. "I'm going to tell you how I feel about Obama, how I feel about Oprah, how I feel about anybody that supports the Democratic Party. Sometimes they [are] immoral. They just don't have any morals at all."
"And they would let anybody do whatever they want to do," including letting a "man to have his penis in the butt of another man where the dung come out."
According to the South Carolina native, "the woman was given something anatomically in front, and the man was given something hanging in the front. They should hang together."
"He give you the butt so you can get rid of waste and bacteria. So, you sticking your penis in a cesspool," he warned, adding that even lesbian sex was "nasty."
Carter argued that God should punish gay men with menstrual bleeding, hot flashes and pregnancy because anal sex was "hygienically crazy."
" Barack Obama that believes in same-sex marriage, he's going to be judged. Oprah Winfrey going to be judged. Al Sharpton, all of those people that says it's alright," he insisted. "You saying it's alright for a man to stick his penis in a cesspool? Are you crazy?"
Carter concluded by asking people to buy a DVD of his sermon so he could make enough money to "terrorize this country in the name of the Lord."
