One US service member killed, two others wounded in Afghanistan

One member of the U.S. armed forces was killed and another two were wounded in the southern Afghan province of Helmand where fierce fighting has been going on between Taliban insurgents and Afghan government forces, a U.S. army spokesman said on Tuesday.


"One U.S. service member died as a result of wounds sustained during operations near Marja in Helmand Province today. Additionally, two U.S. service members were wounded," Brig. Gen. Wilson A. Shoffner, spokesman for U.S. forces in Afghanistan said in a statement.
