John McCain’s fundraiser busted for a meth lab with LSD, coke, heroin and counterfeit cash

Sen. John McCain’s re-election fundraisers all list the same name as the RSVP contact, but that name also showed up as a person arrested during the bust of a meth lab Tuesday.

In Maricopa County, Arizona, sheriff’s deputies made arrests when they found an operational meth lab as well as other illicit drugs when they were carrying out a search warrant for the woman’s home. According to The Arizona Republic, the sheriff’s office identified Emily Pitha, 34, who is a former staffer of retired U.S. Sen. Jon Kyl (R-AZ). She also has worked most recently as a campaign fundraiser for McCain’s 2016 reelection.

McCain’s campaign manager, Ryan O’Daniel, issued a statement after the reports, quickly throwing Ms. Pitha under the nearest bus. “We commend the hard work and dedication of our law enforcement officers in their fight to keep our community safe from illegal drugs and associated criminal activity,” the comment read. “The campaign immediately terminated any relationship with Ms. Pitha upon learning of her alleged involvement in the operation.”

The sheriff’s office spokesperson said that they were alerted to the activity after a package was in transit from the Netherlands, which had over 250 grams of MDMA, which is raw ecstasy. Pitha’s boyfriend, 36-year-old Christopher Hustrulid, was the individual who signed for the packaged when it was finally delivered Tuesday afternoon before the search warrant was served.

Officers report an unspecified amount of LSD, cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, about $7,000 in loose currency and counterfeit money was also found along with the meth lab.

The couple will face numerous drug charges but also possible child-endangerment charges for exposing two children in the home to the drugs.

Kellyanne Conway is preparing to spread the ‘Big Lie’ designed to absolve Trump of screwing up coronavirus response: op-ed

Published

Writing in the Washington Post this Tuesday, Greg Sargent warns that President Trump's campaign is gearing up to disseminate a new "Big Lie" in a bid to ensure he's re-elected in the wake of his mishandling of the response to the coronavirus pandemic -- and Kellyanne Conway is leading the initial push.

According to the Big Lie, as relayed by Conway, the coronavirus was "unanticipated" and Trump will lead the country back to its former glory.

Sargent writes that in reality, "Trump vastly minimized the crisis in real time for weeks and weeks, at a time when his own health-care officials, as well as members of Congress and outside experts, were frantically doing the opposite, badly hampering the federal response."

This researcher literally wrote the book on presidential failure — she’s never see anything like Trump’s

Published

“When presidents fail, they do so on a grand scale.”

That quote comes from “Why President Fail and How They Can Succeed Again,” a book by Elaine Kamarck, a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution and a lecturer at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government who worked in the White House under President Bill Clinton. The book was published in 2016, and in the shock of Donald Trump’s election to the presidency, I gave it a read. As it documented the way much more prepared presidents had floundered when they needed to shine, the book terrified me about the prospects for a President Trump.
