Fox Business host Lou Dobbs declared Donald Trump to be a "genius" on Monday after the presumptive Republican nominee reacted to Britain's decision to exit the European Union by promoting his golf course in Scotland.
Following the so-called Brexit vote that sent markets into a nosedive, Trump explained the upside for his business during a trip to Scotland last week.
“If the pound goes down, they’re going to do more business, more people are coming to Turnberry, frankly,” the candidate said. “I think it’s going to end up being a great thing and the beautiful, beautiful, beautiful thing is the people have taken their country back.”
Hillary Clinton's campaign fired back on Sunday with an ad that blasted Trump for worrying more about his bottom line than the welfare of the American people.
On Monday's edition of Outnumbered, Dobbs insisted that voters would see the "genius" of Donald Trump's remarks.
"It is good for business, it's good for his business," Dobbs opined. "People who are paying attention to this are smart enough to understand monetary policy and exchange rate impact."
"But the fact of the matter is, as president now in the general election -- president to be or want to be if you prefer -- he has to focus strictly on what is before him."
"So you don't think he shouldn't have gone to [Scotland]?" Fox News host Harris Faulkner wondered.
"No, no, no," Dobbs said, dismissing the idea. "They are going to chew him up no matter what he does. The point is -- as a matter of fact, I think the thing was a net plus."
"He looks like a genius once again."
