Full Frontal host Samantha Bee marveled on Monday at how much Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell would defer (R-KY) to the National Rifle Association.
Bee showed footage of the lawmaker telling Fox News last March that he "[couldn't] imagine that a Republican majority in the United States Senate would want to confirm, in a lame-duck session, a nominee opposed by the National Rifle Association."
"I can't imagine that a leader of the Senate majority would admit to being a puppet of the NRA in a televised interview," she replied. "Yet here you are with crazy Wayne [LaPierre's] fist so far up your party's ass he can throw his talking points out your mouths."
As proof, she showed footage of both McConnell and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) complaining about "political correctness" shortly after NRA officials did the same.
"Oh, yes, the deadly PC-15 medical corrector," Bee cracked. "Unmodified it can fire 45 safe spaces a minute. Luckily, it only hurts straw men."
She also contrasted Cruz and McConnell's remarks concerning guns to that of former President Ronald Reagan and conservative Supreme Court Justice Warren Burger, both of whom supported bans on assault rifles.
"I never thought I would say these words but God, could you raise the zombified course of Warren Burger and put him back on the Supreme Court?" she asked, before catching herself and adding, "He'd never be confirmed by the pu*sies in this Senate."
