Although Massachusetts is generally seen as the most liberal state in the country, it's also home to right-wing talk radio gadfly Howie Carr, whose regular rants against undocumented immigrants make him a perfect fit for Donald Trump's presidential campaign.
Carr was on hand in Bangor, Maine on Wednesday, where he acted as a hype man at a Trump rally. During his talk with the crowd, Carr just couldn't help taking a dig at one of his favorite targets: Sen. Elizabeth Warren.
"You know Elizabeth Warren, right?" Carr asked the crowd before putting his hand over his mouth and making a "Woo, woo, woo" noise meant to represent Native American "war cries."
Carr did this in reference to the controversy surrounding Elizabeth Warren's heritage.
While Warren has in the past claimed to have some Native American heritage without any proof to back it up, the reality is there’s no evidence that she ever used this to further her career.
In fact, when Warren was asked if she wanted to apply for admission under Rutgers’s Program for Minority Group Students, she declined. What’s more, her employment documents at the University of Texas had her listed as “white,” while the head of the appointing committee who recommended Warren for her position at Harvard says that her heritage played no role in her getting the job.
No matter, though: We can expect Trump and his surrogates to use tactics like this for the next several months, especially if Warren gets picked as Hillary Clinton's vice-presidential nominee.
