The website belonging to Melania Trump -- wife of Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump -- has been taken offline amid allegations that the former model lied about earning a degree in architecture from the University of Ljubljana in Slovenia.
According to the Huffington Post, an unauthorized book about Mrs. Trump's life released earlier this year -- Melania Trump: The Inside Story -- said that she attended classes for a year, but left to pursue a career in modeling.
Until it was yanked offline earlier today, MelaniaTrump.com's biography section said she earned a degree in architecture and design before embarking on her career in modeling at the age of 18.
The Inside Story's authors said that Trump and his aides embellished Melania's biography to make her seem more educated and accomplished.
"(T)hey were desperate to give off the impression that the Slovenian model was not just beautiful, but also smart and well-educated,” the book claims.
Currently, MelaniaTrump.com redirects to Donald Trump's main webpage.
Questions about Mrs. Trump's educational background and qualifications arose last week after she gave a speech at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland that contained sections lifted verbatim from First Lady Michelle Obama's DNC speech in 2008.
