Reports started cropping up about the speakers list for next week's Republican National Convention last night, and one of the more curious names in the mix was former NFL quarterback Tim Tebow.
While this in itself would be odd, Tebow has just posted a video on Facebook telling fans that he hasn't been confirmed to talk at the RNC and that any suggestions otherwise are mere "rumors."
"I just got back from the Philippines and I wake up this morning to find that I'm speaking at the Republican National Convention," he said. "It's amazing how fast rumors fly, and that's exactly what it is: A rumor."
This wasn't just a "rumor," however -- as NBC News' Hallie Jackson writes, a senior Trump advisor confirmed Tebow's presence at the RNC just this morning:
WELP: No Tebow next week, per...Tebow himself. Even *after* @realDonaldTrump senior adviser confirmed this AM --> https://t.co/SxtUeSNSEO— Hallie Jackson (@Hallie Jackson)1468543573.0
That's the famously organized Trump campaign we've come to know and love!
Interestingly, Tebow spent time during his video bringing up much more unifying themes than what we're likely going to hear in Cleveland next week.
"Let's forget about our quarrels and differences and come together as one 'One Nation Under God,'" said Tebow.
