Comedy Central's planned roast of actor Rob Lowe took a vicious turn Saturday night, when celebrity guests took their shots at conservative columnist Ann Coulter in brutal fashion, even by normal roast standards.
While the roasts spend a great deal of time on the featured star, Coulter's inclusion on the panel seemed to particularly be on the minds of the assembled speakers, reports Variety.
“Ann is one of the most repugnant, hateful, hatchet-face bitches alive," said comedian Jimmy Carr, before adding, "It’s not too late to change, Ann. You could kill yourself.”
Addressing Coulter, Nikki Glaser remarked, "The only person you will ever make happy is the Mexican who digs your grave.”
Even retired quarterback Peyton Manning got in a dig -- despite being a fellow conservative -- by commenting on Coulter's looks.
“I’m not the only athlete up here. As you know, earlier this year, Ann Coulter won the Kentucky Derby,” he joked.
SNL star Pete Davidson offered, "If you are here, Ann, who is scaring the crows away from our crops?”
Coulter admitted she appeared on the roast to help publicize her new book “In Trump We Trust,” and reportedly took it in stride, saying, “I’m only here for all the love and respect I have for Rob Lowe and all of the talented performers tonight. It has nothing to do with the book I published four days ago.”
After a series of her jokes flopped, Lowe jumped in to tell her, "After seeing your set tonight, we’ve seen the first bombing you can’t blame on a Muslim.”
The Comedy Central roast is set to air on Labor Day.
