'CastraTED': Internet greets Ted Cruz’s Trump endorsement with gleeful mockery

During the Republican primary, Donald Trump ruthlessly attacked his rival Sen. Ted Cruz in just about every way imaginable.

In addition to giving Cruz the nickname "Lyin' Ted," Trump also pushed National Enquirer stories claiming Cruz had multiple mistresses, posted a meme on Twitter that accused Cruz's wife of being ugly, and even speculated that Cruz's father might have been part of the plot to assassinate President Kennedy.

Despite all this, however, word leaked on Friday afternoon that Cruz plans to formally endorse Trump sometime next week, likely to stop Trump from funding a primary challenger to Cruz's senate seat in 2018.

As you might expect, the internet wasted no time in gleefully mocking Cruz for preparing to kiss Trump's ring -- despite the fact that earlier this year he called Trump a "pathological liar" who is "utterly amoral."

Update: Buzzfeed reported that the Tea Party senator made the enforcement official with a post on his Facebook page.

"A year ago, I pledged to endorse the Republican nominee, and I am honoring that commitment," Cruz wrote.

Several people on Twitter made jokes about Cruz being a "cuck," which is short for "cuckold" and is the favorite insult of Trump's hardcore alt-right fan base.
