Pussy Riot just released ‘Straight Outta Vagina’ -- and it skewers megalomaniac males like Trump

Pussy Riot, the feminist band that has been a regular thorn in the side of the Putin government in their native Russia, has now become inspired by politics here in the United States.

On Tuesday, Pussy Riot dropped a music video for their new single "Straight Outta Vagina," and band member Nadya Tolokonnikova tells the Guardian that the song was written in part as a response to the presidential candidacy of Donald Trump.

"This song could be considered an answer to Trump," she said. "But I believe the idea of powerful female sexuality is much bigger than any populist megalomaniac man... Vagina is bigger than Trump."

Tolokonnikova also noted the similarities between Trump's misogynistic rhetoric and the kinds of "patriarchal and misogynist ideas" being pushed in her own country by Putin.

"Politicians are praising 'strong leadership,'" she said. "Trump openly supports the authoritarian methods of Vladimir Putin. And it’s scary. It’s not the world in which I want to live."

The song itself is one of Pussy Riot's catchier dance tunes, with a memorable chorus that goes, "Don't play stupid, don't play dumb, vagina's where you're really from."
