Top Trump donors demand a refund because they’re no longer blind to his rampant sexism

The Trump train is crashing and burning quickly after the release last Friday of a tape in which the GOP nominee is heard bragging about sexual assault. Now, some of his top donors want their money back — because nothing he's said along the campaign trail was bad enough until now.

Two of Donald Trump's biggest donors, who have either raised or given "tens of thousands of dollars" to the campaign, have finally had enough, NBC News reports.

One donor asked for a refund, citing the release of the sexually vulgar tape. They wrote in an email, "I cannot express my disappointment enough regarding the recent events surrounding Mr. Trump." The email also read, "As a father of two daughters preparing for marriage, I am repulsed by his comments regarding women."

Another top donor had similar grievances over the recent leaked tape and wrote, "I can not [sic] support a sexist man. I have three young children and will not support a crude sexist man. I expect a refund of my donation. Please process immediately and I thank you for your help."

OK, in all seriousness, has it really taken 16 months for Americans to realize that Trump is a raging misogynist? Did this tape have to come out for people to take his violent sexism seriously?

The real estate mogul and managers at his companies have been accused of grossly mistreating women in at least 20 separate lawsuits, which include behaviors such as, "discriminating against women, ignoring sexual harassment complaints and even participating in the harassment themselves," USA Today investigates.

Trump's top donors are now suddenly invested in women's lives, noting, "I give up. I'm totally walking out and disappointed, and the last 72 hours I have lost sleep over it."

After raising money for the Trump campaign in Florida, Ohio, Los Angeles, and the Northeast, one donor is done. He said, "I'm embarrassed. I'm really embarrassed. I shook hands with him last week and now I want to wash my hand."

You can't raise thousands of dollars for a violent campaign and then simply wash your hands of Donald Trump.
