Mitt Romney Tuesday dined with former rival Donald Trump and future Chief-of-Staff Reince Priebus at New York City hot spot Jean-Georges in the Upper West Side.
Trump is reportedly flirting with the idea of appointing Romney to Secretary of State, leading the former Massachusetts governor to heap nothing but praise on Trump—despite once calling him a “fraud” and “con man.”
While the potential Secretary of State faux-applauded the president-elect, Twitter users took notice when a photo surfaced showing Romney brandishing a less-than-enthused reaction to his meeting with Trump.

Donald Trump looks like a cat that caught a mouse and is now batting it around with its paws until it dies. Romney is the mouse. pic.twitter.com/fSuxKbR7d8 — Taegan Goddard (@politicalwire) November 30, 2016

Some related Romney’s pained expression to an appropriate pop culture reference.

I made the Trump/Romney photo black and white, and it looks like a Twilight Zone episode where a guy just made a foolish deal with the Devil pic.twitter.com/froiDYDJei — Adam Murray (@Atom_Murray) November 30, 2016
And some sage users just resigned themselves to the fact that this is our current reality.
