Martin Short joined Real Time on Friday night and slammed CNN for their surrogate system, stating that it's basically irresponsible campaign coverage.
Commenting on the how frequently Republican nominee Donald Trump makes inflammatory and false remarks, Short said, "If every time that you saw one of these insane things that he says that makes no sense — the wall on, or his economic policy — that you had Anderson Cooper, not with two surrogates from the right and two surrogates from the left, so everyone would think that CNN was fair and balanced."
"But actually somebody saying the truth," he continued. "If you sell beer and you sell aspirin, you have to say what's really true. But if you have a commercial for Donald Trump filled with lies, there's no checks and balances."
"This is a mistake."
