Texas priest wants parishioners to vote for Trump so badly he put a dead fetus on the altar

Rev. Frank Pavone of Amarillo, Texas, is known for being an anti-choice activist. This time he went too far. In a video he uploaded to Facebook, the religious leader put a dead fetus on the altar to urge his church to vote for Donald Trump.

"Today I am showing you a child who was killed by abortion and entrusted to us by a pathologist for burial," Rev. Pavone said in the Facebook post. "I am showing him to you because in this election we have to decide if we will allow this child killing to continue in America or not. Hillary Clinton and the Democratic platform says yes, let the child-killing continue (and you pay for it); Donald Trump and the Republican platform says no, the child should be protected."

According to the religion watchdog blogPatheos, the altar of a Catholic church is reserved for sacramental purposes. It's the place priests celebrate Mass that is reserved for divine worship.

"What Fr. Pavone did was a sacrilege," Scott Eric Alt explained. "It is a violation of canon law, which states that the altar is consecrated for one purpose and one purpose only. It is consecrated for the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. It is not consecrated so that a dead child can be placed there as part of a political stunt to lobby for a favored presidential candidate."

He further explained that the so-called "pro-life" movement is supposed to be about respecting the dignity of human lives. Laying the body out on the altar is the opposite of dignity. It's an example of what pro-choice activists point to as being anti-choice or pro-birth, not pro-life.
