Rev. Frank Pavone of Amarillo, Texas, is known for being an anti-choice activist. This time he went too far. In a video he uploaded to Facebook, the religious leader put a dead fetus on the altar to urge his church to vote for Donald Trump.
“Today I am showing you a child who was killed by abortion and entrusted to us by a pathologist for burial,” Rev. Pavone said in the Facebook post. “I am showing him to you because in this election we have to decide if we will allow this child killing to continue in America or not. Hillary Clinton and the Democratic platform says yes, let the child-killing continue (and you pay for it); Donald Trump and the Republican platform says no, the child should be protected.”
According to the religion watchdog blogPatheos, the altar of a Catholic church is reserved for sacramental purposes. It’s the place priests celebrate Mass that is reserved for divine worship.
“What Fr. Pavone did was a sacrilege,” Scott Eric Alt explained. “It is a violation of canon law, which states that the altar is consecrated for one purpose and one purpose only. It is consecrated for the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. It is not consecrated so that a dead child can be placed there as part of a political stunt to lobby for a favored presidential candidate.”
He further explained that the so-called “pro-life” movement is supposed to be about respecting the dignity of human lives. Laying the body out on the altar is the opposite of dignity. It’s an example of what pro-choice activists point to as being anti-choice or pro-birth, not pro-life.

Beto O’Rourke calls for a ‘war tax’ in release of health care plan for veterans
The Democratic presidential candidate uses his eighth policy announcement to focus on an area that he prioritized in Congress.
Democratic presidential candidate Beto O'Rourke on Monday morning released a plan to improve the lives of veterans, returning to an area of priority during his time in the U.S. House for his latest 2020 policy rollout.
In keeping with measures he supported in Congress, the plan calls for a "responsible end" to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan — reinvesting $1 out of every $2 saved in veterans programs — and the creation of a Veterans Health Care Trust Fund for each future war. The fund would be paid for by a "war tax" on households without service members or veterans.
Conservative Ben Shapiro tweeted something many found offensive — so now he’s calling his critics ‘garbage’
Right wing "thought leader" Ben Shapiro appeared today to say not using the "N" word is nearly impossible as he defended conservative, pro-gun teen Kyle Kashuv, one of the Parkland survivors who just had his acceptance to Harvard rescinded over his racist remarks, which included repeated use of the "N" word.
To be clear, Shapiro denies that's what he meant.
Here is Shapiro on Twitter, in what many took as him appearing to call not using the "N" word – in Kashuv's case, repeatedly, over and over and over again, "an insane, cruel standard no one can possibly meet."
