Wednesday, the country found out that Donald Trump Jr. had talks about the war in Syria with "pro-Russia figures — even if not Russian government officials." The Wall Street Journal indicates that disclosure of the information may have prompted the American electorate to consider his father's presidency.
Since President-Elect Donald Trump's election, the Russian government admitted that it was communicating with the Trump campaign in the lead up to the election. Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov acknowledged that “there were contacts” with the Trump campaign and that embassy staff met with the campaign.
Sergei Markov, a pro-Kremlin political analyst, played it coy. He was excited about Trump's victory and admitted only “maybe we helped a bit with WikiLeaks.”
Last month, the United States government officially accused Russia of hacking of the Democratic National Committee. Prior to the election, many speculated if it was true. However, recently the chief of the NSA confirmed it and called for a Congressional investigation.
Russian President Vladamir Putin was elated about Trump's win as well, saying that he was eager to restore his warm relationship with the United States. Putin previously had a strong relationship with President George W. Bush, who said that he saw into his soul.
Despite all of this, most of the media hasn't seemed to notice. The news broke the day before the Thanksgiving holiday and cable news shows seem to be taking a lighter approach to news. The internet isn't giving anyone a pass, however.
