Chrissy Teigen is not one to mince words about Donald J. Trump, and Friday, she came to the defense of her husband and other “A” list stars, noting the reality show star turned president-elect is “dying without the approval” of his fellow celebrities.
In a tweet fired off Thursday evening, Trump took aim at reports that his inauguration team is having a difficult time landing high-caliber performers to appear alongside him on his big day, claiming “A” list celebrities “are all wanting tixs” be he just wants “the PEOPLE!”
In response, Teigen reminded the Trump that she, and her husband John Legend, are in fact people.
Teigen and Legend both campaigned for Hillary Clinton, with Teigen telling the Daily Mail in October she and her husband “think it’s really important to vote for the person who is not a sociopath.”
After Trump’s election, Legend told the BBC he’s “not surprised at all” that Trump’s inauguration team is having a difficult time landing talent.
"Creative people tend to reject bigotry and hate," Legend said. "We tend to be more liberal-minded. When we see somebody that's preaching division and hate and bigotry, it's unlikely he'll get a lot of creative people that want to be associated with him.”
While the couple certainly won’t be appearing on Jan. 20 to cheer on Trump, Teigen did have some suggestions for who the president-elect could pick to serenade him to power.
