A Florida man is being charged with aggravated battery after a road rage incident in Hialeah, Florida that was caught on camera.

Police witnessed 24-year-old Hector Herrera beating a man with a baseball bat while tending to another traffic stop. Jairo Linarte, the 50-year-old survivor of the incident, was trying to get away after Herrera used the bat to break the glass of the passenger side window of Linarte's truck.

“I feel lucky, I get out good from that situation,” Linarte told police. He was fearful his injuries could have been worse.

The incident began when Herrera tried to come into Linarte's lane. That's when Herrera jumped out of his vehicle with the bat. According to a WPLG interview, Linarte sustained injuries to his right arm.

Herrera claimed he grabbed the bat out of instinct and simply lost control." The first thing that came to my head was to grab the bat and go and fight," he said.

"I would say to him, 'Hey, I'm sorry for this situation. We both don't want to be in [these] kind of situations because this is no good for nobody,'" Herrera said.
