Newsmax CEO and longtime Donald Trump confidante Chris Ruddy on Monday told PBS Newshour’s July Woodruff the president is “considering perhaps terminating” Robert Mueller as special counsel in the Russia investigation.

Ruddy made the claim following a meeting in the West Wing of the White House.

The move follows calls from conservative figures for Trump to let go of the special counsel following former FBI Director James Comey’s testimony before the Senate Intelligence Committee.
