Fired Trump envoy ‘screaming’ at staff as eviction looms in 'insane' situation: report

Former U.S. Ambassador to Greece Kimberly Guilfoyle has until the end of the month to move out of the quarters provided to her by the State Department, and she is not taking it well, according to the Daily Mail.

Two sources familiar with the matter told the Mail that Guilfoyle, 57, has been given until the end of October to leave the official residence in Athens, where the Mail says “her grip on power has been severed.” Three sources said she is considering staying in Europe instead of returning to the United States.

“The people in the embassy are no longer afraid of her. Nobody is listening to her or taking her orders anymore,” a source in Greece told the Mail. “She is all alone in that house, screaming at her old staff that they are leakers, and waiting to get kicked out. It’s an insane situation.”

Guilfoyle resigned Oct. 13 after the White House asked her to step down, amid allegations of improper conduct that she has denied. Trump has since said she “wasn’t part of my family,” adding, “I guess she dated my son.”

Guilfoyle “desperately needed back-up,” the paper said, after it exclusively reported that the State Department had launched an investigation into accusations that she presided over a toxic, retaliation-fueled workplace. The Mail has reported the probe also covers private jet travel and off-the-books funding of upgrades to the ambassador’s residence. The Wall Street Journal reported that before she became ambassador, she pressured a donor to help pay off a $100,000 credit card bill, which the Mail described as being in exchange for administration access. Guilfoyle has called the accusations against her “false.”

Guilfoyle told people close to her that she called Rupert Murdoch to get the Journal’s stories removed, but he did not budge, the Mail reported.

Leaving Greece “may not end her troubles,” the Mail reported. Rep. Robert Garcia (D-CA), the ranking Democrat on the House Oversight Committee, said Wednesday that Democrats will keep investigating Guilfoyle even though she is now a private citizen.

Greek City Times, citing Daily Mail reporting, said Greek President Konstantinos Tasoulas’ office “has no farewell visit planned” for her, a courtesy traditionally offered to departing ambassadors.
